How We Rebuilt a Lost Website in 5 Days From Internet Archives

In 2025, a GTA psychotherapy practice found out its website was gone. The person who set up the Wix account had left the practice. The account expired, and with it went every page, every photo and every word of copy. There was no backup and no way to log back in.

Content recovered from public web archives, including the Wayback Machine. Rebuilt on WordPress in 2025.

The Challenge

The practice had no access to the old account and no copy of the content. Clients were landing on a dead site. Everything the practice had written about its services had to be found again before anything could be rebuilt.

What We Did

We worked fast, and we made sure this could never happen again:

The Result

The practice was back online in 5 days with all 15 pages restored, new pages added and a cleaner design that works well on phones. Most important, the practice now owns its own website and logins.

Why It Matters for You

If one person holds the keys to your website, your business is one resignation away from losing it. We check who owns your domain, hosting and logins, and fix it before it becomes a crisis.

Common Questions

Can you get a Wix website back after the account expires?

If no one can log in to the Wix account, there is usually no way to restore the site from Wix itself. That is why we recovered the content from public web archives instead.

Is the Wayback Machine enough to rebuild a website?

It is a good start, not a full backup. It keeps many public pages and their text, but often misses images, forms and pages it never saved. Expect to fill some gaps by hand.

How do I make sure my business owns its website?

Keep the domain, hosting and website logins in the business’s name and email, not one staff member’s. Give at least two people admin access, and keep an off-site backup.
