Kevin B., a Toronto-based food photographer, approached Clickworthy to improve his portfolio website. While his work was high quality, the site did not fully showcase his creative strengths. Through our website development efforts, we enhanced visual storytelling, brought greater focus to his work, and implemented clearer calls to action to drive more inquiries.
The previous website had several limitations that impacted its overall performance. The layout felt too basic and lacked the visual engagement needed to capture attention. Slow loading times, caused by unoptimized media, further disrupted the user experience and discouraged visitors from exploring the site.
Mobile responsiveness was also limited, making it difficult for users on smaller devices to browse comfortably. As a result, the website struggled with low engagement and a high bounce rate. Despite the strength of the photography, the site failed to leave a lasting impression or effectively guide and motivate visitors to book services.
To address these issues, Clickworthy implemented a portfolio-first approach that placed the photography at the center of the user experience. The layout was redesigned to be clean and minimal. The homepage was transformed to immediately showcase featured work through a full-width gallery to create a strong first impression. We also enhanced the viewing experience by optimizing images for faster loading through compression.
Navigation was simplified across the site to ensure users could access key sections quickly. At the same time, the entire website was rebuilt with mobile user-experience in mind. The was done by ensuring the following:
To support business growth, conversion focused elements were introduced throughout the site. Clear calls to action were also added in various sections of the homepage.
Following the launch of the redesigned website, the photography business experienced significant improvements in performance and engagement. Visitors began spending more time on the site, exploring the portfolio in greater depth. Bounce rates dropped noticeably, while portfolio page views increased as users found it easier to access and navigate the work. Most importantly, inquiry submissions grew, showing that the new design successfully guided visitors toward taking action.
By focusing on a visually driven layout and prioritizing the portfolio, the redesigned website successfully aligned the brand’s online presence with the quality of its work. The improvements not only elevated the site’s appearance but also delivered meaningful business results by increasing engagement and driving more inquiries.
